Race Distances
Participants can choose one of 3 distance options to match their personal endurance goals: approximately 100k, 50k, 30k of sweet northern Wisconsin dirt, with the great majority of each distance being on singletrack.
Course
All races start at 9 am and end behind the SC Johnson Outdoor Center at the OO Trailhead.
The course is run on and permitted through the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Sawyer County Forest, and Bayfield County Forest.
Course: Ride with GPS files for the race have been updated.
2025 Cheq Challenge 30k · Ride with GPS
2025 Cheq Challenge 50k · Ride with GPS
2025 Cheq Challenge 100k · Ride with GPS
We strongly encourage participants to download the Ride With GPS file to their computer or phone for several reasons:
— the files include cues to warn of upcoming turns, roads, and trail crossings;
— the files include elevation profiles to allow riders to see what is coming up.
This is a self-supported race in the wilderness. Riders should be self-contained and carry both paper and electronic maps.
While we have support, riders should be self-contained with water and paper maps. – Water location stops will be added once courses are finalized.
Course Marking Info
The course will be marked with bright orange signs like the one below. The course will be “Open” to other traffic so you will need to be cautious of cars, ATVs, hikers, bikers, bears, etc. Use caution crossing roads and other intersections.
Cutoff Times
We plan to have several independent course sweeps. These sweeps will depart at specific times from the following points on the course.
*Locations will be provided when courses have been finalized
Other Reminders
Bug spray – If you plan to stop anywhere on the course, it’s highly recommended that you have applied some bug protection. The mosquitoes this year are aggressive and plentiful!
Food/cash – There will be food again this year at OO as well as beverages!
Raffle/cash – Bring some cash for the raffle! It will have a ton of stuff from our sponsors!
If you DNF, please check in at the timing tent to tell the timers
What if it rains?
We’ll update this page with contingencies and the time we’ll make “the call.” The CAMBA trails hold up extremely well to rain, so a significant amount would be required for us to cancel or postpone the event.
After party?
Of course! We plan to have food and beverages after you cross the line!
Awards
The Women’s and Men’s podium spots will be awarded to 1st-3rd place, and all 100k finishers will receive a custom award courtesy of North 40 Steel.
NEW Addition to the Cheq Challenge!
Join us for Famduro! This free, fun-filled family event invites families and friends to race down two exciting trails. Starting from the OO parking lot, participants will race downhill, with categories based on group sizes. The race begins when the first person crosses the start line and ends when the last member of your group crosses the finish line. The trails are approximately 0.3 miles of thrilling downhill adventure.
Looking for a gravity race? This is your chance to be part of the first-ever CAMBA gravity event! Winners will earn pats on the back and bragging rights. Designed to get your blood pumping and put a smile on your face, this event welcomes hecklers, fans, drums, horns, and airhorns along the course. Got a banana suit in your closet? Here’s your excuse to wear it! Come join the fun and make unforgettable memories!
