Course
All races start at 9 am and end behind the SC Johnson Outdoor Center at the OO Trailhead.
The course is run on and permitted through the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Sawyer County Forest, and Bayfield County Forest.
***Course Updates***: Ride with GPS files for the race have been updated.
2025 Cheq Challenge 30k · Ride with GPS
2025 Cheq Challenge 50k · Ride with GPS
2025 Cheq Challenge 100k · Ride with GPS
We strongly encourage participants to download the Ride With GPS file to their computer or phone for several reasons:
— The files include cues to warn of upcoming turns, roads, and trail crossings.
— The files include elevation profiles to allow riders to see what is coming up.
This is primarily a self-supported race in the wilderness. Riders should be self-sufficient and carry both paper and electronic maps. Although there will be some support available, riders should bring enough water and nutrition for their specific race distance. Water stops will be located at the Camp 38 trail entry for all races and at the OO and Mosquito Brook trailhead for the 100k riders.
Course Marking Info
The course will be marked with bright orange signs. The course will be “Open” to other traffic, so you will need to be cautious of cars, ATVs, hikers, bikers, bears, etc. Use caution when crossing roads and other intersections. Riders are required to follow all traffic laws while on shared use trails.
Cutoff Times
We plan to have several independent course sweeps. These sweeps will depart at specific times from points all accross the course. Primarily, the only cutoff time will be for 100k riders at the OO trailhead at 1:30 to continue to the south part of the course.
Other Reminders
Bug spray – If you plan to stop anywhere on the course, it’s highly recommended that you have applied some bug protection. The mosquitoes can be aggressive and plentiful!
Food – Food and beverages will be available again this year at OO!
If you DNF, please check in at the timing tent to tell the timers
What if it rains?
We’ll update this page with contingencies and the time we’ll make “the call.” The CAMBA trails hold up extremely well to rain, so a significant amount would be required for us to cancel or postpone the event.
After party?
Of course! We plan to have food and beverages after you cross the line!
Awards
The Women’s and Men’s podium spots will be awarded to 1st-3rd place, and all 100k finishers will receive a custom award courtesy of North 40 Steel.
NEW Addition to the Cheq Challenge!

The race begins when the first person crosses the start line and ends when the last member of your group crosses the finish line. The trails are approximately 0.3 miles of thrilling downhill adventure.
