Ways To Support Your Trails In 2026!
What a year it’s been! As we wind down the season, it’s time to plan for next year. In 2025, our community accomplished so much—from sold-out women’s clinics and kids’ camps to the relaunch of the Cheq Challenge and four major trail projects, led by the Ojibwe rehab.
To maintain the momentum in 2026, we need support from our communities and members. Consider donating, becoming a member, or volunteering your time. Together, we can enhance our community through the trails!
2026 Trail Projects
-

Trail Rider Traffic Counters
As part of our 2026 strategy, we aim to collect trail usage data for grant applications, trail planning, and assessing community economic impacts. We'll use the TRAFx off-road vehicle counter, a compact, self-contained device that can be easily installed without external wires. It effectively counts both trail riders and hikers. We need to raise a total of $8,000.
-

New CAMBA Truck
Our trail crew required a dependable truck for hauling trailers and other heavy-duty trail equipment. We partnered with Don Johnson Motors in Hayward to purchase a new 2024 RAM 2500 Tradesman Crew Cab 4X4 for $46,000. A generous supporter donated $30,000 toward this purchase, but we still need to raise $16,000.
-

Winter Trail Fund
Help CAMBA maintain and groom the extensive winter bike trails in Sawyer and Bayfield Counties. Your support will help us cover costs for staff, equipment, and maintenance, ensuring our trails are ready for your next winter adventure, along with hundreds of miles of plowed town roads to explore. We aim to raise a total of $7,500.
-

New Excavator Trailer
Before we can start moving dirt and revitalizing our trails, we need the right equipment. We're excited to have a new excavator this year, but our old trailer is on its last legs. With the truck and excavator ready, we aim to invest in a reliable trailer to keep our trails among the best riding experiences in the North Woods. To make this happen, we seek to raise $8,700. Your support will help us maintain these trails for everyone to enjoy!
-

High Point Trail Modernization
We have some of the best trails in the Midwest! One of our favorites, Flow Mama, is incredibly picturesque, and High Point offers breathtaking views. We want to upgrade by creating a one-way trail on the steep grades and setting up a cozy meeting hub at the top. It’ll be the perfect spot to take a moment and appreciate the beauty around us and the joy of riding. To bring this dream to life, we need your help to raise $50,000.
-

Dirt Candy Rehab - Phase 2
This season, we embarked on an exciting journey to kick off the first phase of rehabilitating Dirt Candy, to complete the Ojibwe project, and craft a truly seamless trail experience. Looking ahead to 2026, we envision finishing the rehabilitation by connecting to the trailhead at Spider Lake Fire Lane. To make this vision a reality, we need your support to raise $28,000. Join us in making this trail come to life again!
Leave Your Mark On The Trails
Make a Meaningful Difference: If you are passionate about the trails and CAMBA holds a special place in your heart, consider the impact of Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs). By donating from your IRA this year, you can provide essential support to the trail you love for years to come. Your generosity can truly make a difference now and for future generations. Together, we can create endless trails to support our lifestyle and communities here in the Northwoods.
Two Strategies for Charitable Giving With an IRA
Giving During Retirement Years Through a QCD
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a payment from a traditional or Roth IRA to a qualified charity, available to individuals aged 70½ or older. It can count toward the required minimum distribution (RMD). Starting in 2025, individuals can exclude up to $108,000 of QCDs from their taxable income annually.
Charitable Gift Fund, Through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a wonderful charitable-giving tool that allows you to make a lasting contribution to the fund, giving you the benefit of an immediate tax deduction. Over time, you have the opportunity to support the causes that matter most to you by requesting distributions to IRS-approved public charities. This way, you can make a meaningful impact while enjoying the rewards of your generosity.
