Seeley Big Fat Race Recap
The Seeley Big Fat was a great success. Our groomers, Jeff Schmid and Tom Gaier spent 15 hours preparing the trail, and it paid off. We had 65 registrations, a more than 50% increase from last year. Even with the higher than normal grooming costs, we netted over $2,300 from the event. Thank you to all of the volunteers for making it possible!
Aaron Swanson won both the men’s Preem, and the men’s overall. Julie Meyers won both the women’s Preem and the women’s overall. Complete results and a link to race photos are available here.
A huge Thank You to 45NRTH for sponsoring the race, and Mountain Bike Radio for providing the prize money and some door prizes. Other area businesses and organizations providing door prizes and other support include the Angry Minnow, Angler’s Bar and Grill, Black Iron Bar and Grill, Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, Hayward Chamber of Commerce, Miller’s Market, New Moon Bike and Ski, Outdoor Ventures, Redbery Books, Riverbrook Bike and Ski, Rivers Eatery, Sawmill Saloon, and the Seeley Ski Club.
Based on the overwhelmingly positive response to the race, the CAMBA-Fat team is already looking ahead to next year and ways in which the race can be improved to offer a great fat bike racing experience.
