No Rest for the Weary
It has been a busy spring on the CAMBA trails. As soon as the clean up was completed after one storm, another came through and littered many of the trails with more downed trees and branches. And then, after most everything had been cleared and declared ready for riding, more storms dropped a significant number of trees and branches on the trails. This pattern has repeated three or four times this spring, keeping our trail maintenance stewards (a.k.a. trail bosses) quite busy. The trail bosses and other volunteers have made many trips out to the trails to clear the affected areas. You can be of help too. When you are out riding please clear any branches or small trees that you can from the trails. For those places that you cannot do anything about, please make out a "Trail Maintenance Report" at the trailhead and deposit it in the box. The trail bosses appreciate these reports since it can save time and prevent effort duplication and speed up the clean up of the total trail system. Please do not attempt any major chainsaw clean-up work. Most of our trail bosses have received chainsaw safety training and should be the only people operating a chainsaw on the trails. Typically, if a blow down is too big for one person, the trail boss will recruit volunteers to get together for a work project. In addition to submitting a Trail Maintenance Report and you may send an e-mail to CAMBA at camba@cheqnet.net and it will be forwarded to the respective Trail Boss for the area. Or, feel free to contact them directly. Thanks.

Trail Construction Moving Ahead
The Hayward trail crew is making progress to the east and north on the new singletrack Makwa Trail. The trail is open for riding in both directions from Mosquito Brook Trailhead to H1. As more of the trail is completed connecting to other trails, barriers will be removed and signs added.

CAMBA also hopes to construct approximately four miles of new single track in the Rock Lake area during the summer of 2008. This will remove the last sections of ski trail from biking. Construction began in late May and will continue until freeze up. This work is being done entirely by hand to create a more technically challenging trail.

Watch for volunteer opportunities where you can provide your talents and sweat. If you'd like to lend a hand, contact the respective project leader directly: Hayward - Steve Morales, moralesf@cheqnet.net; Namakagon - John Leighton, jleighton@msn.com.
