CAMBA Kids - Change in Location
Please note the change in location for the next CAMBA Kids session scheduled for this Saturday, June 23. This week's class will take place at the Mosquito Brook Trail Head on Mosquito Brook Road.
This will be the final session of the inaugural CAMBA Kids. Twenty-five kids have participated and several adult helpers have assisted getting this great program off the ground. Thanks to all.
It's Musky Festival Time
CAMBA will have a booth at the Musky Fest primarily for raffle ticket sales and also for distributing CAMBA trail, membership and other information. If you're around, drop by and say hello.
If you have time, John Saunders could use a hand with the booth duties throughout the weekend. Booth set up will be at 7:00 a.m. Friday, June 22. Hours of operation will be from 10:00 a. m to 6:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Contact John at johngerdas@aol.com if you can help out or just stop by and give the hard working guy a break.
The CAMBA booth will located on Main Street in Hayward in front of The Pavilion and Angler's Bar and Grill.
Hatchery Creek Update
Our summer trail crew started work last week The crew of three, Matt Ostrander, Kyle Fredrickson and Adam Less are doing finish work on the initial trail tread cut by Jay Cablec and his mini-excavator. Great progress is being made.
The return loop to Hatchery is now complete as far as the next intersection to where riders can cross Birkie and loop back to Mosquito Brook or head to Hatchery via the two-way section. Total new trail is about 1.8 miles, from the Mosquito Brook parking area to this intersection.
Volunteer crews are still being used to supplement the Summer Crew. Any work completed by volunteers saves CAMBA money and gets the trail finished that much sooner. Volunteer work sessions are being coordinated by Steve Morales on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. Show up and the Mosquito Brook Trail Head and head south about 1.5 miles on the Birkie Trail until you see his truck. Grab a tool and head in on the trail.
Or, if you feel like jumping in with the crew during the week, they are working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For more info, call Steve Morales at (715) 634-2592 or email moralesf@cheqnet.net.
Got Rhythm?
CAMBA's adult education program, Finding the Rhythm of the Trail launched last week under the tutelage of CAMBA board member John Leighton. The four-week learn to trail ride course takes place on Tuesday mornings through the first week in July.
A small but enthusiastic group of six, mostly members of the Birkie Girls, had a good time as the class got off to a good start. More participants are expected at future classes.
Next year afternoon or evening classes are under consideration to accommodate those who cannot attend weekday morning sessions.
